Joshua Reuben Fritz combines classical and pop music

E-mail Print

Local musician Joshua Reuben Fritz has been playing around the city for a few years. On his latest EP, “Passion Strength Spirit,” he combines his love for classical music with pop and Latin tinged sounds.Click here to hear Joshua Reuben Fritz
The first track, the slower, which features the Lethbridge Symphony Musaeus String Quartet,  “ Beauty In White”  would be at home being played at any wedding.

The second track  continues the slower, Latino feel and includes  beautiful harmony vocals  from Mary-Ann Boorsma.

“Justice and Mercy” explores more of his spiritual  side. Again it is very pretty.

The CD retains the laid back feel classical feel throughout, and while beautiful, soft and pretty, it sounds very similar throughout.
Track number five, “Dawn,” which features the Musaeus String Quartet is an especially pretty instrumental classical piece.
The EP ends with a  radio edit of “Beauty in White.”
Overall the CD ’s production qualities leave something to be desired. It sounds like it was recorded in a closet, however it does display some respectable classical/ Latin chops and able, pleasant vocals.
Plus it is great to hear a recording of Lethbridge’s own Musaeus string quartet.
Check him out at the College Drive Community Church, Jan. 29,2010
