Michael Peters Etherised is an appealing listen

E-mail Print
Winnipeg raised, Toronto based musician Michael Peters is a combination of Ben Folds and Todd Snider, just add some impressive bluegrass style guitar picking.Click here to hear Michael Peters
The guitar playing comes to the forefront  on the first two, exceptional tracks ‘Sweet On Me’ and ‘Run,Run, Sylvie’ off his second CD “Etherised.”
He dials down the tempo on the third track ‘Angels/Demons’ which is  still touching and more pop flavoured than the  first two more folk-bluegrass influenced tracks.
Things get even slower on  ‘Winter’s Day’ and  the title track ‘Etherised,’ but Peters picks up the tempo on the  catchy Joel Plaskett style pop number ‘The Trial.’
‘Judgement Day,’ as a little bit of a reggae feel and a catchy melody.
The CD ends  on an upbeat steel guitar powered country number ‘Yvette’s Song’
Throughout, Peters displays an appealing tenor voice along the lines of Joel Plaskett and plays a variety of upbeat, pop/ folk  songs which even have  Celtic feel to them.
it is a pleasant listen especially how the first two up tempo tracks draw the listener into the music.
