Düus blows the roof off of Tongue N Groove

E-mail Print PDF

Darryl Düus at the Tongue n Groove. Photo by Richard AmeryOne of the many shows I wanted to see on Friday was Daryll Düus, of course he is playing twice this coming week, Thursday, April 21 for Leigh Doerksen’s tour party at the Tongue N Groove and April 23 with papa King in the same place.

But I kept catching him on set breaks at the Tongue N’ Groove, and instead of catching other acts elsewhere, made the mistake of waiting around and thus missed most of them.

But Düus and friends including Tyler Bird on drums and a lead guitarist Taylor Ackerman, (in the second set) brought the party with an exciting set of slide powered blues featuring Düus wandering through the dancing crowd while playing his guitar.

There were a variety of originals and up tempo blues classics including “Boot Hill” and “Yonder Wall.”
