Vancouver based musician Marq DeSouza is returning home to Lethbridge for a few days to play the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Friday, May 13 with Spencer Jo from Calgary.
“Last time I was here, the show was all over the place — part acoustic, part electric. But this one is going to be completely solo acoustic,” he said.
“I really want to do a more focused song orientated show,” he continued.
He is looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends and familiar faces in Lethbridge.
“I never had a high school reunion, so when I come a town I get to see a lot of people again and they get to see a lot of people they haven’t seen in a while. It ends up being a little party,” he said.
While the last time he was home was 2009, before that he tried to make it back her every six months or so.
DeSouza has recorded two CDs with indie rock band Solarbaby as well as two solo CDs.
He has been playing a lot more shows around Vancouver this past year in addition to concentrating on recording singles, the latest being “Morning After Pill,” and “You Break My Heart,” which were released in February.
They have been getting airplay and making the charts like the Hevy D Music playlist which appears in the Vancouver Province and in newspapers across the nation.
“I don’t have a new album yet. I like concentrating on singles. It’s easier for people to digest one or two songs at one time than 10 or 12,” he said.
There is no cover for the May 13 show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge.
