Lethbridge hosts provincial one act play festival this weekend

Lethbridge hosts the provincials for the One Act Play Festival at the Sterndale Bennett Theatre, May 20-21.  Lethbridge’s entry is the Camille Pavlenko penned  “Permission,” a quirky exploration of the insecurities of relationships. It will be directed by Katheryn Smith.

It also took second place in this year’s University of Lethbridge PlayRight contest. The cast includes Jocelyn Haub, a familiar face on stage with New West and Stephen Iremonger, who was last on stage in Richard III at the University of Lethbridge plus Kelly Malcolm.


 The festival begins with Foothills’ entry “The Final Case of  Deenie Druews” at 7 p.m. Friday night followed by “Permission” at 8:30 p.m.

The festival continues Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. with Calgary‘s “Duck Variations. It will be followed by “Falling Down the Well” at 3:15 p.m.


There will be three performances in the evening beginning at  7 p.m. with Yellowhead’s “Chicks.”

It will be followed by One Man Five Minute Macbeth,” from Peace River.” at 8:15 p.m. The evening ends at  9 p.m. with “Gone” out of Edmonton.

Admission is $10 for Friday night and Saturday afternoon or $10 for both sessions on Saturday.
