“Supergirls” Leslie Alexander and Jenny Allen return to Lethbridge this week. Photo by Richard AmeryLeslie Alexander is looking forward to returning to Lethbridge for her fourth local show with Jenny Allen.

“It’s the same show as last time, except it‘s a lot better,” said Alexander, looking forward to playing the Slice, Oct. 13 on their Dirty Laundry Dual Release Tour Event.

“It is so good to be back in Alberta, said Alexander, who grew up on a sheep farm outside of High River, before trying her luck  as a musician in Calgary, then eventually Vancouver.

“We’ve travelled from Vancouver Island to Montreal as Allen and Alexander,” she said. They have tightened up their show the more they play together.

In addition to playing music Alexander’s  solo CD “Nobody’s Baby” and Allen’s Cd “Blanket,” they are also playing songs  they wrote together for an upcoming Cd they will be recording together in the near future.

“ The more we play together the more solid it gets,” she said.

The duo have an interesting contrast in styles as Jenny Allen is more country, while  Anderson is more in the rock vein a la Sheryl Crow, but they play with each other, adding extra harmony vocals and instrumentation — everything from kazoo to washboard as well as a guitar and mandolin.

She is already booking shows for the duo for the Spring including a couple big folk club gigs.
“We love folk club gigs because the people are really there to listen,” she said.

“ But we always love playing Lethbridge,  and it’s not just because of the thrift shops. The people there are really friendly and they love music,” she said.
The show is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., Oct. 13.
