Weber Brothers Band are the baddest in the land

E-mail Print

It’s dangerous to call youself  the “baddest band in the land,” luckily the Weber Brothers have the musical chops to back up the title of their latest Cd.
If you threw a handful of your favourite ’70s bands into a blender, like The Band, Supertramp, Jackson Browne, Pink Floyd, Cheap Trick and some of Led Zeppelin’s weirder and more introspective moments, the result might be something like the Click here to hear the Weber BrothersWeber Brothers’ latest CD “Baddest Band in the Land.”

The CD includes quite a bit of variety from slower, longer epic , Pink Floydish tracks to the upbeat  rocking highlights including “Sell, Sell, Sell,” “Windbag,” “Origmai Rose,” “ Panic Attack” plus the last track another upbeat epic  “Different Day.”

As in the live show, the  manic piano is omipresent, you can hear a great upright bass solo on “Windbag,“ and  vocalist/ bassist Ryan Weber channels all of the above bands, especially Supertramp’s Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies on slower tracks like “Can’t Help Feeling Bad.”
They band’s superb vocal harmonies are showcased throughout the CD as well.

They wanted to capture the intesnsity of their hyperactive live show by recording this CD over a mater of days, live off the floor live off the floor at Bedside Studios in Winnipeg, and come very close to it.

It sounds great, rough, raw, yet with  just enough processing to mould the edges, to give you that ’70s arena rock feel to it, especially on the  slower tracks. However, I’m partial to the unadulterated rock and roll numbers, which are also crowd favourites at their live shows like  “Windbag,” and the first track “Stay in The Game.”
