The show features Steve Coffey and the Lokels as well as Jane Hawley, Lethbridge’s own Leeroy Stagger and Redrum Triumph among other acts slated to perform in the Geomatic Attic parking lot, June 24. Tickets are $37.50.

The music begins at  5 p.m. The Kinsmen will be running a charity barbecue with all money being donated to YWCA Harbour House.
“Jane organized that show, so I don’t know a lot about it,” said Pineo over the phone as his children chunter in the background.

“ But I’ll probably be backing her for her songs and play my own songs solo on acoustic guitar from all of my albums,” he said.

He realeased a new CD late last year “Hardwired For the Blues” with his blues trio the Blue Mondays, who have a regular Monday night gig at Mikey’s Juke Joint in Calgary
It was released in October 2011 and was named one of Holger Peterson’s Top 10 blues albums of the year.

“ I’ve been playing with the Blue Mondays  trio (including bassist Kit Johnson and drummer Kelly Kruse) since 2008 or 2009 and we know quite a few tunes, so this was a chance to compltetely ressurrect a few of them,” he continued.

They recorded most of them live off the floor at a friend’s studio to capture the feel of their live performances.
That is just volume one. He is working on the second volume of the set when he has saved enough money to record them.
“We have a few instrumentals that  have a sort of Ventures feel to them which are pretty popular,” he said.

“If money  was not a problem, I’d be recording it right now,” he said adding he can play a variety of styles of music including folk and blues, but people know him best as a bluesman.

“When I offer the folk, the blues or the rock show, people usually choose the blues show,” he said adding he doesn’t tour a lot.
“I’d like to tour on this CD, but it is expensive. A lot of guys who usually play with bands are now touring solo, but with a trio it could be cost effective, but it is gettign tougher to find places to play,” he said.

He has lots to do close to home. His next big project is a tribute to Billy Cowsill, who passed away six years ago. It will take place on June 29 at the  Ironwood.

It will be a lot of the guys who used to play his songs with the Blue Shadows and  members of the Co-dependants, people who used to play his music,” he said.
“It will be  a pretty big event.”
Tickets for the Lethbridge show cost $37.50. The music begins at 5 p.m. at the Geomatic Attic.
