Alex Vissia and band sings with soul

E-mail Print PDF

I didn’t want to miss Edmonton folk/ rock singer Alex Vissia at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Dec. 7.Alex Vissia and her band singing some new songs. Photo by Richard Amery

I arrived in time to catch Vissia and her bassist Kurtis Cockerill and drummer Nich Davies playing their second set of the night, which was opened by Riley McKinnon.

She sang with a lot of soul and a touch of R and B in her sultry, jazz infused voice.
She played an array of mid-tempo rockers including her “most danceable” song, which  didn’t get any dancers this time.
One called “Supernatural” was especially sexy.

She noted she and her band were on their way to play Swift Current then back home to cap off a year which included playing approximately 100 shows.
Another song, which may have been a cover called “Dreams” was another highlight. She also played a few songs from a new CD to be released next year.
