The Brains and Bent 8 are back this week

If your tastes lean towards classic rock, then you will a want to be at Casino Lethbridge, May 23  for Holly Woods and Toronto who will be playing all of their hits like “Your Daddy Don’t  Know,” and others.


If you like country  music, Petunia returns to the Slice, May 22.


 Dan Frechette also returns to Lethbridge to play the Owl Acoustic Lounge, May 23 with Kayla Luky and special guest  Laurel Thomsen on fiddle and guitar. He plays a variety of different music, but is concentrating on his latest CD “Dawning of a New Day.”


 There are also a couple excellent blues shows with Erin Ross returning to the Owl Acoustic Lounge, May 24 and local blues band Riviera Paradise returning to the Mocha Cabana, Friday and Saturday, May 24-25.


 But, if you love listening to singing ladies, be at the Slice,  May 24 where a variety of female singers will be performing including garage rock band The Yeah Dads, alternative duo betterhalf featuring AaronTrozzo and bassist/ vocalist Silvana Campus, the talented country/ folk singer Shaela Miller and a long awaited return to Lethbridge by Amy Bronson.


 There are also a couple good early week shows on Monday, May 27 with indie rock band Smokekiller at the Slice and  jazz/ rock band Flying Fox and the Hunter GatherersShaela Miller plays May 24. Photo by Richard Amery at the Owl Acoustic Lounge.


 It is also a great week for open mics. While the Folk Club open mic is done for the season and is done at the Wolf’s Den permanently, a new Saturday afternoon open mic has opened at Studio 54.

Bruce Roome hosts it  beginning at 2:30 p.m. He also  is involved with the Friday night open mic at Jimmy’s Pub and Brasserie on Fridays as well as at the Trianon every Thursday night. There are also open mics at the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Monday and L.A. Beat's open jam at the Owl Acoustic Lounge on Wednesday, plus the Slice has a long standing open mic on Tuesdays.
