Lethbridge’s Tod Robinson and his band the Gleu introduced their new CD “The other One,” to a decent sized crowd, at the Slice, May 10.
They sounded very tight which is to be expected with Tyson Wiebe on guitar and vocals plus Brad Brouwer and Jason Schutchen locked in on drums and bass.
Robinson himself spent most of his set playing keyboards giving his band a Ben Folds style pop mixed with the Byrds’ folk sound. He played guitar for much of the band’s second set.
But they played an array of styles, dabbling in reggae, a lot of pop and a touch of rock.
Most of the songs came from the new CD. One of the highlights was “Mindless Kiss.”
Robinson sang a a lot of quirky lyrics which were almost poetic and immediately appealing.
