Saskatchewan blues musician Jack Semple is excited about playing the Lethbridge Jazz festival, June 15 at CASA.
“ I played the Lethbridge festival only once before I love it very great people very fantastic audiences,” wrote Semple in an e-mail from the Czech Republic, where he is on vacation, though he is playing a couple of solo gigs there as well.
“The Czech Republic is very wet,” he observed.
“ All of Europe has been hit by the biggest flood in 500 years we arrived here and got rained on six nights and it has been already raining for a week before that. They got two months worth of rain in two days. The rivers are very swollen and raging. Prague had a state of emergency yesterday. We have seen many torrential rivers,” he continued adding while he is on vacation, he is playing solo gigs in Heidelberg and another one in Mark Dorf.
He will be coming to Lethbridge with his trio, bassist Dave Chobot and drummer Jack Blonski.
“ The music will be progressive blues. My gig in Lethbridge will be with my trio. It will be featuring new songs from my new CD. The CD of 13 new original songs is called “ In the Blue Light” which was released last fall.
“ I am very excited about it I'm very proud of this CD,” he wrote.
He has a couple of festivals lined up for June, which he is looking forward to.
“ I'm excited to be opening for Dr. John at the Saskatchewan jazz fest,” he wrote.
Jack Semple plays at CASA, June 15 at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.
