Hurricane Felix plays some rockabilly for the Deathbridge Derby Dames

I only caught a couple shows on Aug, 24. But one I had to check out was by Bent 8 and Hurricane Felix at the Geomatic Attic where they were performing a fundraiser for the Deathbridge Derby Dames roller derby team.

The audience made up for lack of numbers with lots of enthusiasm by the end of the set.

While I missed Bent 8 and most of Hurricane Felix, I caught Hurricane Felix and the Southern Twisters’ hot last set.

Their guitarist  Luis Da Grease DelGado switched between a big Gretsch and some steel guitar, which is always fun to hear in rockabilly. He made a show of it , standing up and lifting it.

Bassist  Hurricane Felix sang a variety of  songs ranging from classic rockabilly songs including several Elvis Presley songs including “That’s All Right Mama” as well as numerous originals.
“Backseat Lover” was one of several highlights of the set.
