Eyes on Ivan play Celtic music Owls by Nature style

E-mail Print PDF

While I was expecting a full orchestra with Eyes on Ivan at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Sept. 20,  unfortunately it ended up being two fifths of Owls By Nature whoCory Dee and Doc DeGroot of Eyes on Ivan. Photo by Richard Amery  form the core of this Celtic tinged side project. They were still excellent.

Frontman Cory Dee played guitar and sang Celtic  flavoured melodies while guitarist/ mandolinist Doc De Groot filled in the rest. It was excellent with lots of catchy rhythm and some excellent mandolin solos.

While they usually play with a five person band, the duo brought the songs down to their roots and made me want to hear more. Cory Dee has an appealing voice that brings the listener back to his Maritimes roots and you can’t go wrong with Doc DeGroot’s mandolin.
