You might remember Phillip Bosley and  Matt Keighan from playing with Fred Eaglesmith band alumni Roger Marin’s band. While they have been on their own for about a year, making their way as solo artists.
“We’ve been touring together with the Roger Marin Band, but Philip Bosley plays two shows in Lethbridge in the next couple of weeks. Photo Submittedthis is the first tour we've done together as solo artists,” said Bosley from Thunder Bay.
They have two Lethbridge shows coming up including this Friday, Oct. 18 at the Owl Acoustic Lounge and Oct. 28 at the Slice.

The duo have been dubbed  “grunge country,” or even more telling “a two man trio.”
“I like old country music, but I also like wild ”90s guitar,” he said adding he also like a lot of Texas singer soingwriters.

“We blend good songs with a lot of rock and roll,” he described.
“ I guess we‘re Buck Owens meets Big Sugar.”

They both play guitar and drums at the same time with  Keighan playing the  kick drum and Bosley playing the snare drum and tambourine.

“ We both play guitar and drums to get the rhythm going. A lot of audiences tell us they can hear the third guy,” he said.

He is enjoying the  tour so far.
“It’s nice to play as a duo because you always have somebody to split the driving and the gas,” he said.
He released his first solo CD, “Funeral Blues,”  almost exactly a year ago, though it was serviced to radio in the Spring, where it even charted on the University of Lethbridge radio station CKXU.

He is working on the follow-up.

“Like most musicians, as soon as you put out one album you can’t wait to get to work on the next one. I’ve already completed between 30 or 50 songs and have to whittle them down to 11 or 12. I hope to begin recording it in the Spring,” he said.

He noted the new music is a little more upbeat than the first album.

“ The first one, the songs were more more dark, singer-songwriter songs. A lot of them were about depression. This time I decided to add some Motown into the pot,” he said.

He said the two shows will be different.

“The first show will be two guys touring together and are figuring it out. I’ve got some new songs I’ll be playing. The second show will be two guys who have been driving in a van together for two weeks and can’t wait to get home, not that we don’t enjoy touring,” he said.
There is no cover for the show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, which begins at approximately 9 p.m.
