The second half of the Highway 3 Roots Review show, Dec. 16, was excellent. The special sold out performance at the Geomatic Attic featured John Wort Hannam, Dave McCann and Leeroy Stagger playing crowd favourites, some new material and some covers. They took it in turns to showcase each of their outstanding songwriting abilities. They were also helping each other out on each other’s songs by adding harp solos, harmony vocals and the occasional guitar solos.
Dave McCann’s UFO/ farming song ‘When Leeroy Quit Drinking’ was a highlight and John Wort Hannam’s “Church of the long Grass’ for which Stagger added a harp solo. McCann’s upbeat ‘Smells Like Rain’ was another one. Stagger played a couple new ones which I liked, but didn’t catch the name of. I enjoyed his song ’Mister’
The capacity crowd called them back for an encore which included some Willie P Bennett and some Springsteen. It was excellent.
