Lethbridge Dance instructor and choreographer Claire Lint is excited to premiere her new dance presentation Haptikos at CASA, today (Feb. 15) at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m,
The 30 minute presentations feature four Lethbridge Dancers Mikaela Pahulj, Sydney Peters, Chandra Deck and DeAndra Sullivan explore the concept of touch through movement.
“ It’s easier done than said,” said Lint, who developed the routines during her 10 week residence as dance instructor at CASA.
She became curious about the Greek term of Haptikos which is defined as pertaining to the sense of touch and decided to develop a dance around it.
“I thought I’d explore that through movement and experience touch through the physicality of dance. It’s very playful,” she continued. Lint would like to develop an entire show around her Haptikos dance.
While she is a contracted instructor now, she hopes to form her own dance company.
““I want to develop a year round dance company for Lethbridge.”
She noted while as a contractor she is required to adhere to somebody else’s vision, creating her own dance allows her to pursue her own.
She will also be hosting a Haptikos dance workshop on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. -1 p.m. at CASA in the dance studio. Admission to the workshop is $15 per person
