Saskatchewan musician Megan Nash returns to Lethbridge to play the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Aug. 15 with Regina musician Nick Faye of Nick Faye and the Deputies.
“I’ve known of Nick for several years, but we’ve never played together,” said Nash, who tours a lot either with alt rock trio PandaCorn, solo or with Yukon musician Mary Caroline.
“It’s nice to play with somebody new for solo acoustic tours and it is different music than with Pandacorn,” she added, noting PandaCorn has been on hiatus for a few months while Nash and bandmate Brody Mohninger concentrate on other projects.
“I’m going to really get familiar with his music,” she said.
“He has a really great voice and he is a great guitar player too, she continued.
She recently relocated to the hamlet of Palmer from Moose Jaw for cheaper rent where she has been doing a lot of writing.
“ I’m working on a solo album that I want to have out by October and I’m working on a new Pandacorn album we want out in October,” she said.
In addition to the tour with Nick Faye, she also plans to go to the Yukon and tour with Mary Caroline again.
“ I moved there (to Palmer) for the cheap rent and for a great venue. There's an old church there I‘ve been wring a lot of songs. I‘m definitely doing a lot of writing,” she said.
“A lot of the new songs are definitely in the alt country vein. I’ve been writing them on acoustic guitar. I bought an electric and am learning how to play it, but it isn’t stage ready yet,” she said.
She thinks she will call the new CD “ Nocturnal Nash.”
She is excited about the new Pandacorn project.
They just released the last Pandacorn CD on Itunes
“ It’s tough deciding whether my songs will be for the solo album or for PandaCorn,” she said.
There is no cover for the show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, which begins at 9 p.m., Aug. 15.
