Harpoonist and the Axe Murder and Miss Quincy play laid back blues rock

E-mail Print PDF

A  couple of my favourite performers returned to Lethbridge to play the Geomatic Attic, Oct. 17. Unfortunately I only caught the last few songs of Vancouver blues rock duo Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer’s packed show.Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer jam on some blues. Photo by Richard Amery

They were backed by Miss Quincy  (Jody Peck) and Rachel Cardiello singing beautiful back up vocals.

They brought on  Miss Quincy drummer Jenn Foster for the second  song of the encore who provided a solid addition to “Axe Murderer”  Matthew Rogers, who was playing guitar and his own improvised drum kit for the  show.

Shawn Rogers was his  always affable and laid back frontman, playing some hot harp and singing in his soothing, soulful voice.Miss Quincy singing with harpoonist and the Axe Murderer. photo by Rchard amery

But I  arrived just in time to catch my favourite  Harpoonist and the Axe Murder song “ Get Out,” which they turned into an extended, groovy jam  of almost 10 minutes.

So there was plenty of improvisation and beautiful guitar and harp playing with Miss Quincy adding gorgeous back ground vocals.
