One of many events University of Lethbridge based community radio station, CKXU, 88.3 F.M. had going on this week was Culis Partis, March 21 in the Zoo at the University of Lethbridge.
I only caught the last couple of songs from the Calgary based Latin fusion band Uno Band who opened the evening, which also featured local rapper Pzeudo and the Acoustic Rhymers.
The quartet had an unstoppable back beat, funky bass from Pedro Acosta and some beautifully groovy saxophone from Stephen Edward which had an enthusiastic audience cheering for more by the end, even though frontman/ guitarist Arturo Rondon said they didn’t know any more songs.
They returned with a toe tapping cover of reggae classic the Redemption song. They raised a total of $21, 445 during this year’s pledge drive, exceeding their goal of $20,000.
