There are a lot of familiar faces in the production including Erica Hunt and Kathy Zaborsky who are co-directing the production with music director Paul Walker.
It also features New West favourites like Kyle Gruninger, plus Andrea Gedrasik, newcomer Tom Delbello and New West veteran Kelly Roberts.

New West also welcomes back Jocelyn Brayne, who moved to Calgary in January with her husband and New West alumni Devon Brayne, who is training to work on cruise ships in September.
“It is so good to be back with my family,” enthused Brayne, who was back with New West for the +55 Games.
She is excited to be back with New West Theatre for her seventh season.
“It is so much fun,” she said.

“ I miss working with Devon  like crazy though,” she added.
The show opens with “Get Down On It,” which sets the mood for the rest of the show.
“It is a lot of classic fun and lots of dancing and the ladies really get a singing workout,” she continued.

“You can’t help but to feel the groove,” she said, adding the show has been more of a collaborative process.

“The comedy bits are the result of seven of us sitting in a room together making each other laugh,” she laughed.

“And choreographer Claire Lint  has done an amazing  job,” she said, adding she is part of a bit, which is a nod to the Beyonce song “Single Ladies,” which was parodied on Saturday Night Live by Justin Timberlake and Beyonce, but without the black bodysuits.

“That’s a challenge,” she continued.
Working with the three directors has been a lot of fun.

“They really wanted to feature everybody, so its really been a welcoming environment to work  in,” she said.

“It feels like Get Down is a ‘Summertastic’ show. You can’t not enjoy it,” she said.

“There’s some impressive singing in this show. It’s fun for all ages,” she said praising Aaron Collier’s set design, which features a lot of lights.
Get Down Runs at the Yates Theatre, Aug. 6-29 except Sundays and Mondays other than Aug. 24. There are also 1 p.m.  matinees Aug. 13 and 29.

A version of this story appears in the Aug. 5, 2015 edition of the Lethbridge Sun Times.
