Five women age 18-45 with good singing voices and able to perform choreography are needed to play the five singing nuns in the production.

Ed Bayly will be directing the production, which takes place May 5-7 and 12-14 at the Yates Theatre.
“They need to be able to sing very well and be able to do some movement,” said director Ed Bayly.

“It’s a great comical show. We did it several years ago,” Bayly continued, noting it is being held in the Sterndale Bennett Theatre to cut down on royalty cost.
The production will be  a fundraiser for the long standing musical theatre company.

“Hopefully we will be able to  make some profit and put it in our war chest for next year,” Bayly continued, adding Lethbridge Musical Theatre won’t be putting on their usual November/ December production.
“So be there or be square,” he said.

“It’s about a group of nuns who have supper together and 60 of them die of food poisoning. They bury most of them so the surviving five put on a musical as a fundraiser because they can’t afford to bury 10 of them,” Bayly said, agreeing Nunsense is a little dark, but very funny.
“They interact with the audience in a good way there is Sister Superior and Sister Amnesia who gets hit on the head with a clock and can’t remember anything. They all have their own quirks,” Bayly said.

“It’s a very entertaining show,” he said, noting he has already had some interest from people wanting to be part of the production.
Auditions are 7-9:30 p.m., March 3 and 4 in the Sterndale Bennett Theatre.
