“The last time we were in Lethbridge it was super fun. We had a great opening band and everyone was really hyped to see us,” said Clayton parsons, who plays  guitar, dobro, banjo and sings background vocals with the Good Ol’ Goats.

he is excited about the new music and the more polished feel of the upcoming CD.
“This album has a more professional sound and a really decent sound. The first one was recorded live off the floor with all of us playing together. This one was multi-tracked so it doesn’t just sound like a bunch of people just jamming,” he said.

“We also have electric guitar, slide guitar, trumpet and bunch of instruments we didn’t have before,” said Parsons. The Good Ol’ Goats also include Nolan Ackert on banjo, guitar and lead vocals; Theo Moore on bass and back-up vocals; Joelle Winkel on auxiliary percussion and back up vocals; Danica Martin on trumpet, piano and back up vocals; and Julian Bueckert on the drums.

We’ve had a lot people asking us when we’ll have something new, so it’s been a long time coming,” he said, adding the last CD was released in 2012 or 2013.

The band is planning to have the CD  out in June, just in time for summer festival season.

“We have a couple of little festivals booked,” said Parsons Noting they are playing Edgewater and potentially Canada Day in Fernie.
“But the one I’m looking forward the most is Julyfest in Kimberly. They bring in a lot of bands in the arena and we get to open,” he said.
“So we’re pretty stoked to get it out,” he continued, noting lately the band have been playing a  lot of gigs on ski hills.

“We’ve been playing a lot of random gigs here and there. We just played two days in Lake Louise and we played closing day in Kimberly. They’re a lot of fun. They’re outside and you are playing for a lot of people who are just there  to have a good time,” he said.
“ And the scenery is beautiful. In Lake Louise, we were looking at the mountains and and you feel pretty spoiled,” he said.
He is looking forward to bringing the new music back to Lethbridge.

“We’ll be playing a couple of sets and it will be mostly new music. I think we only play one song from the last album. “It’s more mature. We’re much better musically and lyrically now. We‘re stoked to come back to Lethbridge so come on down and get your dance on,” he said.
“It will be fun.”
Tickets are $15 in advance from Blueprint. The show begins at 9 p.m.
