It was standing room only at the Owl Acoustic Lounge , May 7 for Ryland Moranz’s  CD release party for his new CD “Hello Old New World.” I missed an opening set from his little sister Gillian Moranz.

Moranz has been playing with Leeroy Stagger lately and has learned a few tricks. Not the least of which is picking some top notch players to back him including upright bassist Tyson Maiko, drummer Kyle Harmon, Matthew Robinson on guitar while he alternated between guitar and banjo.

I was running back and forth between three gigs, so only caught the first part of his short  and sweet set which mostly focused on the new CD.

He earnestly delivered his songs and thanked the crowd for supporting him.

“This is the most special night of my life,” he said as he introduced the title track from the new CD.
His music was tender, earnest folk and roots music, which was immediately appealing.
