Juno award winning singer/ songwriter Stephen Fearing impressed approximately 30 people at the Geomatic Attic, March 10.
Fearing displayed some impressive classical meets jazz and folk influenced guitar chops and lyrical abilities. He told stories and noted the new Blackie and the Rodeo Kings CD ‘Kings and Queens’ is 80 per cent complete.
It will be a collaboration with numerous famous female musicians including Lucinda Williams, Rosanne Cash, Holly Cole, Emmy Lou Harris and Serena Ryder. He played one of the new tracks which he recorded with Ryder, much to the crowd’s acclaim.
Fearing also dedicated a song to the family of Willie P. Bennett, the ‘patron saint of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings,’ some of who were in the audience.
He brought Australian singer/songwriter Andy White back on stage for the last couple more rock influenced numbers.
