There was music for all eras and tastes on New Year’s Eve.
I hit barely half of all the shows going on, but got a good taste of everybody’s new year’s celebrations.
I missed The Chevelles, Trevor Panczak and the Swing Bridge ’20s celebration.
However Pop’s Pub West welcomed 
back ’90s band Uncovered, featuring the return of Ali Hawkins.
They were playing a variety of ’90s pop and rock music, and were just finishing their first set by the time I arrived. It was all about the ’80s at the Slice where numerous Lethbridge musicians took turns covering the gamut of ’80s music from pop like Wham’s “Wake me Up Before you Go Go,” performed by Ty Vandendool, who also sang an excellent version of Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like the wolf,” to ’80s metal including Ozzy Osborne’s Shot in the Dark,” and Def Leppard’s “Hysteria” performed by Bridgette Yarwood, who also belted out Guns N’ Roses’“Sweet Child O’ Mine.”
The band also added ZZ Top’s “Legs.”
Other highlights were hot version of Joan Jett’s “ I Love Rock and Roll and Slade’s “Run Runaway.”
Meanwhile it was all about ’70s pop and funk music at a packed 
Owl Acoustic Lounge, where Adequate was funking in the new year.
They played a variety of ’70s pop and funk including well known hits like David Bowie’s “Fame,” and The Steve Miller Band‘s “ The Joker.”
They also added a couple of new , upbeat, funky originals.
Average Joes didn’t have many people for local blues Band The Steve Keenan band. They played the blues with hot soling from Keenan and extra keyboards from Gary Drayton.
They have a new album coming out, so they played several new originals to appear on that including some more country flavoured music.
The 1010 Pub featured Band of Brothers playing some rock and roll. I caught their last song, which was a Tragically Hip cover.
