Lots of laughs and rock and roll this week

It is great to see things opening up again, as the local music scene and venues dip their toes into a post-Covid world.The Chevelles return to Sound Garden this weekend. Photo by Richard Amery
 Start the week early with laughter.
 Faris Hytiaa hosts Good Times  weekly comedy open mic tonight, Tuesday. Mike Dambra plays four shows this weekend.


 His last show had to be postponed until October, So Dambra will be providing the laughter at Good Times at 7 P.m. and 9:30 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are $20
 Monthly comedy mics return to the Owl Acoustic Lounge this week too, with the laughs  beginning  inside beginning at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 30.


New West Theatre as well as country star Gord Bamford enjoyed some success with drive in concerts this summer.


 This week, October opens with country stars George Canyon and Aaron Pritchett doing two drive in concerts at the Enmax Centre at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1. Tickets are $115 per vehicle;  $135 including a concession package;  $140  for VIP admission and $160 for VIP and concession.

Devin Gergel hosts the Slice’s Thursday night open mic.

Honker’s Pub features Shallow Lilac aka TJ Waltho and Keenan Pezderic playing jazz music  from 7-11 p.m. Admission is $10 with 20 per cent going to charity. Pritchett has just released a new single “Never Seen Me Like This.”
 Paul Kype hosts the afternoon jam at Honker’s Pub, Oct. 3 from 4-8 p.m.


If you missed Tyler Alllen and the Red Hot hayseeds, a couple of weeks ago, catch them again, Oct. 3 at the Slice.  Boots and the Hoots are also playing, but as  Boots cut his thumb, he has invited Peter and the Wolves’  Howlin’ Pete Cormier to play lead guitar.

 The SLice has started afternoon open mics  from 4-7 p.m., The Red hot Hayseeds and Boots and the Hoots will start around 9 p.m. Admission is $10.

 Scott Davidson and Super Tonic are on the Slice stage, Oct 2.


 The Chevelles return to rock Sound Garden on Friday and Saturday. beginning around 8 p.m. Admission is $10.
 And the Hibikaya drummer wind up the season at Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens on Sunday, Oct..4 Their performance is included with the nine dollar admission to the Gardens. They perform at 1 p.m.
