The Owl Acoustic lounge was standing room only for the easygoing CD release party for Starpainter’s second album “ Rattlesnake Dream,” Saturday, June 3.
The band played a tight, laid back set of original alt country rock music, focusing on the album.
They began with the catchy first track “ Low Hanging Fruit.”
Joel Stretch sang the lead vocals and played rhythm guitar, with Bailey Kate adding extra percussion on triangle, as well as extra harmony vocals and rhythm, guitar when needed, leaving Joel Gray to play subtle slide lines.
New bassist Dylan Wagner fit right in with Mickey Hayward‘s drums as Tyler Stewart added extra keyboard colours for the show.
Stretch told the story of the literal rattlesnake dream that inspired the album and the title track.
They had a sedate, Alt country feel reminiscent of Wilco.
