All kinds of rock for the end of February

February draws to a close with a busy and eclectic week.

 Start off with some laughs  with Impromptu who host drop in Improv at  Good Times tonight, Feb. 20. Pro Amateur Night is back at Good Times on Wednesday with hosts Cole Howg and Jared Wolf Child. The laughs begin at 7 p.m. Admission is five dollars. 

Fresno, California born, Vancouver based comedian Dino Archie brings the funny on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $19.95.


Local comedian Michael Moses celebrates his upcoming move to  New York with a sold out, early show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge Feb. 24. The show begins at 7 p.m.

 Around the corner, the Owl Acoustic Lounge host their weekly open mic at around 8:30 p.m.

There is plenty of jazz music   this week.


 Standard Time Duo aka Don Robb and Randy Epp return to Watertower Grill to play some jazz music from 6-8 p.m.

 Because of Reading week, HBO3 will host the Owl Acoustic lounge’s  monthly jazz jam, Wednesday, Feb. 29 instead of Feb.21 as originally scheduled.


 And Midnight Channel and Red line take jazz music to unusual places at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Friday, Feb. 23.

 Black Arrow turn things up at the Slice, Wednesday, Feb. 21 where they will be hosting the Slice’s weekly open mic.

Gabe Thaine hosts Theoretically Brewing’s  jam for hunger  beginning at 6:30 p.m, on Thursday.

Lunch Date host their first open mic at Honker’s Pub on Friday,  Daylan Delaney hosts his first open mic at Honker’s Pub on Saturday, Feb.24.

You can rock in  a lot of different ways this week.


Calgary classic rock revivalists The Definitive blend a variety of  diverse influences as they share the Slice stage, Friday, Feb. 23 with 21st Avenue. There is a $15 cover charge.

If you love your metal with a nautical/ pirate theme, Calgary metal band Syryn return to the Slice stage, Saturday, Feb. 24 with  Vessell and Drerarius. There is a $15 cover for that show.

Yarboro takes rock and roll back to the roots with Charlie Marks and the Spineless Cowards with Elish Lazenby at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, Saturday, Feb. 24.

 Bruce Peterson and Ranahan return to the Casino Lethbridge stage. on Friday and Saturday.


 The Geomatic Attic continues a busy couple of months as they welcome back the Devin Cuddy Duo on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Tickets are $35 members, $37.50 for non-members. There are  few tickets remaining for the show, which begins at 8 p.m.

The last week of February / first week of March kicks off early on Tuesday, Feb. 26  as the Owl Acoustic Lounge welcomes back Jesse Northey and Ellen Froese.

 It is also the last week to catch New West Theatre‘s new music comedy revue Legends of Rock and Country. The show runs  until Feb. 25. It focusses on musical tributes to a variety of artists from Dolly Parton to Marvin Gaye.
