Local progressive rock trio Lustre Creame is one of the most entertaining live acts in Lethbridge, not to mention one of the most technically proficient. So it’s about time we heard a CD from them.
Fortunately for those who like a touch of Tool mixed with liberal doses of ’60s psychedelia and probably a few ’60s psychedelic treats, a lot of big meaty guitar riffs, plus wild basslines and thunderous drumming, Lustre Creame delivers with their new self-titled, six song EP.
It features crowd favourites like 7:18 minutes of Sex Piss, ‘Cigarette’ and my favourite ‘Finger Excersize.’ The very cool flowing bass riff comes through just about perfect.
Also included is ‘Battle Metal’ which has some pretty intricate guitar riffs and a live version of ‘Golden Shower’ recorded at the Slice. The last track is a typical bar room recording, but, like I said, it gives you the essence of the band.
The EP was recorded in their basement studio and it sounds like it, as the vocals are a little muffled, but it captures the essence of the band’s live show, and most importantly their substantial musical chops.
So if you want a taste of Lustre Creame, take a bite out of their new EP.
