It was full houses everywhere this weekend, beginning with Average Joes/ Joe’s Garage where the Dirty Stache Bash was taking place featuring numerous local bands.

I arrived near the end of another excellent set of dirty slide powered blues rock from the Smokestack Jacks which had a lot of people dancing in front of the stage.

The Phantom Creeps were next with a  typically strong set of original psychobilly/ punk rock which had a lot of people  dancing and singing along.

Bassist/vocalist Tyler Brownfield began the set with a tried and true rockabilly trick — standing on his stand-up bass while playing and growling out the lyrics, Nashville Pussy style.

What impressed me, was, just before Double Jack set up, was local burlesque duo the Brazen Hussies who showed off some impressive moves and brave disregard for fire as they athletically twirled fire batons, put them in their teeth as they almost kiDave Bullied of Smokestack Jacks works up a sweat. Brittany O ’ Neill put what looked like a knight’s helmet on Trish Condon and applied a grinder to it, sending a shower of sparks up in the air.
Condon took control of the grinder herself, sending more sparks off a piece of metal strapped to her leg.

Hot Pie, including Paul Kype and Jon Martin ended the evening with an assortment of popular David Bowie/Pink Floyd era covers.
