One show I was glad to have caught, Oct. 1 was Calgary based girl garage rockers the Shrapnelles, who were playing the
NAAG Gallery with the Moby Dicks and Fist City. I arrived in time to see the Shrapnelles.
The Calgary foursome reminded me of the Go-Gos if they had embraced a more of a garage rock feel instead of pop. They had some pretty cool haunting vocal harmonies and reverb-drenched Gretsch guitar for that ’60s sound.
I would have loved to have been able to hear the lyrics though. Their set was brief and fairly tight , marked by several instrument changes.
