Honky Tonk Heartache party with The Dungarees with Shaela Miller
Fri, Feb 14

Time: 9 p.m.
Cover: by Donation

On February 14th come on down to The Owl Acoustic Lounge for a night of Honky Tonk Heartache. It's the cheesiest holiday of the year. Let's celebrate it right with a hardcore hoedown of two of Alberta's finest country acts.

The Dungarees

From humble beginnings in western Canada to international festival stages, award winning country group The Dungarees have taken their unique brand of country – blending the classic twang of a telecaster and infusing it with modern intensity and pop sensibility – and become one of Canada’s fastest rising stars. With multiple CCMA and ACMA nominations between them, James Murdoch (bass/vocals), Robb Angus (guitar/vocals), Kiron Jhass (guitar/vocals) Darrek Anderson (steel guitar) and Ben Shillabeer (drums) have become an undeniable force in country music.

Shaela Miller

Miller's affinity for the classic country greats of the yesteryear gives her an unparalleled disposition as an original ambassador of a new wave of country music. When asked to describe her music she replies simply: "Honky Tonk". But that’s certainly not all it is. Tear in your beer ballads, dance hall shuffles and dark alt-country craft work are all part of the package. With a voice that will send shivers up your spine and a penchant for turning a phrase that will make you relish in its simple eloquence, Shaela’s musical force is unabated and unrivaled.

 The Dungarees

Comprised of bassist/vocalist James Murdoch, guitarist/vocalist Robb Angus, guitarist/vocalist Kiron Jhass, steel player Darrek Anderson and drummer Ben Shillabeer, The Dungarees have a definitive musical mandate; Take the undeniable lyrical styling, twangy telecaster and steel guitar that they love from classic country, and inject it with harmony, modern intensity and pop sensibility.

Among Canada’s fastest rising stars, The Dungarees have performed at marquee festivals including Boots and Hearts Music Festival, the Calgary Stampede, Big Valley Jamboree, Country Thunder, Dauphin CountryFest and SunFest. Gracing arena stages, the band has proudly opened as direct support for Blake Shelton, Reba McEntire and Miranda Lambert, and will be supporting the legendary Dwight Yoakam in October 2016.

The band’s current single, I’m Down is about to break the Top 40 Country Chart in Canada and is being played in heavy rotation from coast to coast on commercial country radio.

The Dungarees took home “Country Artist of the Year” at the 2015 Edmonton Music Awards, and both Darrek Anderson and Ben Shillabeer received All-Star Band nominations at the Canadian Country Music Awards. The band was most recently nominated for "Group of The Year" at the 2015 and 2016 Alberta Country Music Awards, and was honored to be shortlisted for numerous 2016 Canadian Country Music Awards.
