Leeroy Stagger is back home briefly  to run some errands and play the Geomatic Attic Summer Blast-Off, June 24, then he is back on the road.
 He  is going to enjoy playing the Summer Blast Off with Hayes Carll.

“He’s a great guy. We’ve met a couple times and he’s got Grant Siemens from Corb Lund’s band playing with him,” he enthused.

Stagger will be focusing on his latest CD “Radiant Land,” which he released earlier this year.
“We only  have a 45 minute set. So there will be quite a lot of music from ‘Radiant Land.’ It will be  great show,” he promised.

He is busy touring in support of his latest album “Radiant Land,” which he recorded down in Nashville. It has already received a lot of positive reviews, but he already has the next CD ready to go.
“It will probably be released next spring,” he said.

 That fulfils  the two CD deal he had with Danny Goldman’s new record label,  Gold Lake Records, which signed Stagger earlier this year and includes acts like the Cranberries, Tom Morello and the Hives.

“That makes it a lot easier on me,” he said adding the next CD, which he recorded in Portland,” CD will be a lot  more  of a heavier rock and roll record.
“It will be a lot different. There is definitely more political songs it,” he said.

 

 “Radiant Land,” features a lot of uplifting song about love inspired by his observances of the human condition.

“It’s not all about love.  What else can you write about. There’s politics and there are a couple songs about politics on the CD like ‘Capitalism Must Die,’” he said. adding he is an observational songwriter.

“There’s a good mix of them both,” he continued adding ‘Capitalism Must Die’ was inspired by his travels.
“There are a lot of small towns dying and they just closed another GM plant. It seems the media isn’t telling the whole story,” he continued.
He just returned from a tour of Eastern Canada.

“It was great. We met a lot of of great people,” he said adding they will be going back out after the June 24 show.
 He recently met  one of his idols, Steve Earle, at his Lethbridge show.
“It was definitely a  dream come true. He sent me a note saying he wanted to meet me and we talked for about an hour. He said he really liked what I was doing. He’s really cool. He can be in a bad mood, but he was in a good mood,” he observed.
 Tickets for the Lethbridge show cost $37.50. The music begins at 5 p.m. at the Geomatic Attic.
