Trevor Panczak CD release party to be a highlight of a busy week

There are a couple big shows this week.

 “She’s Everything You Want,” the first single from the CD “Another Day, Another Dollar” is already getting local radio airplay. Tickets are available at Average Joes for $15  which include a copy of the CD. The CD was recorded at the University of Lethbridge recording studio. The show begins at 8 p.m.


The Lethbridge Folk Club also opens their new season this Saturday, Sept. 11 with Leeroy Stagger performing a solo show at the Wolf’s Den. Karen Romanchuk opens the show at 8 p.m. The Lethbridge Folk Club also has an open mic  on Friday.

As always everybody is welcome to play.
Speaking of open mics, there is as a lot of news on that front. Jimmy’s Pub and Brasserie on the South Side next to Future Shop has stared a new Friday open mic which begins at 8 p.m. Everybody is welcome to play. Darryl Düus will be alternating hosting duties with several other musicians. The first one featuring a full house and lots of music.
 The 1010 Pub Monday open mic is now being hosted by Double Jack, while the Wednesday open mic at  Bar One, is now finished. Average Joes is starting their Thursday night open mic again  this week as well.
The Turncoats host an open jam at the Slice, tonight (Sept. 7.) Admission is free.

This Wednesday, there is a big punk/metal show at the Vent in Coaldale with the Mentors, Mr. Plow and Parapsychotic. It begins at 9 p.m. The cover is $10.


A couple other big shows this weekend are Fresh Fest this Saturday. Fresh fest is an all day party for university students featuring a variety of bands  including Said the Whale, The Dudes, The Wassabi Collective, Maurice, Small Town DJs and Keys N Krates as well as numerous local acts including Jesse and the Dandelions, Fist City and Matt Robinson.

Also on Sept. 11, the Deathbridge Derby Dames Roller Dearby team are holding a fundraiser at Bo Diddly’s featuring live bands including Type Monkey Type and the Smokestack Jacks.There will also be a 50/50 draw with some crazy prizes, a Photo Booth starring Stuart Mueller Photography, and a Karaoke contest.
$8.00 advanced tickets are available at Bo's or  $10 at the door. Doors open at 8 p.m.

Local independent record store Blueprint celebrates  their  fourth year anniversary this week as well with a cool show on Sept 12 featuring Greg MacPherson and the Darby and Joan Club.


 Former Lethbridge blues woman Leah Marie King is back in Lethbridge Sept.11 at the Slice as well.
For those who want to laugh, comedian Pauly Shore returns to Lethbridge, Sept. 14 at Average Joes.
 Shore is  an MTV personality and star of films like Encino Man, Son-In-Law, In The Army Now, Jury Duty and Bio-Dome.


 But the big show of the week is a late announcement. The Pack AD are back to rock Lethbridge blues/punk style, Sept. 10. The Edmonton born, Vancouver based  duo, Maya Miller and Becky Black will be playing the Slice, Sept. 10 with the Turncoats. They are touring on their third full length CD “We Kill Computers.”
Last, but certainly not least, Matt Epp is back in Lethbridge to play a show at the Slice with his band, “The Amorian Assembly,” Sept. 9. Tickets are $15.
