It’s mid-December, so the Christmas season is in full swing.
 There are several Christmas themed shows this week including a couple different presentations of a Christmas Carol on Dec. 10.
 The McGill Music and Arts School presents their dinner theatre presentation of a Christmas Carol at  260 McGill Blvd. West (the Maranatha Church). Doors open at 6 p.m.

Downtown, the Playgoers of Lethbridge also present a reading of a Christmas Carol at the Southminster United Church at 7 p.m.
 Proceeds from the $10 tickets go to the Interfaith Foodbank.
If you like modern country music, High Valley is coming to  the Victory Church, Dec. 10.

If you want Christmas music, The Lethbridge Gold Band is playing your favourites at the annual Mayor’s Christmas Concert, Dec. 11 at Southminster United Church.

If you missed the Phantom Creeps at the Front Row Pub this week, performing with local Burlesque duo the Brazen Hussies, catch the Creeps and Smokestack Jacks at the Slice, Dec. 10.

If you missed Karen Romanchuk opening  for Jill Barber this week, then check out her show at the Owl, Dec. 10.
And if you missed the Phantom Creeps at the Front Row Pub this week, catch them playing with Smokestack Jacks at the Slice, Dec. 10 as well.

The Jimmy Mac band includes some of Lethbridge’s well known faces on the music scene including Darryl Düus, Paul Holden, Jason Schultchen,  Brad Brouwer and Anthony Pittarelli and Incura keyboardist Jim McLaren.

 

They were playing Dec. 4 at the Slice for an evening filled with jazz/ caribbean and blues filled fun, but if you missed it , they will be back at the Slice, Dec. 11 with the Kyle Gruninger Band.

 And hip hop and Jackass fans will be looking forward to  Dec. 11 as well with the Jackass 3-D party at Bully’s featuring  Bam Margera and special guest K-OS.

 And if you like jazz music,  David Renter hosts a jazz jam, Dec. 9, which the Herb Hicks Jazz Quartet will be at the Mocha Cabana on the weekend.
If you are traveling, Tom Jackson brings his Singing For Supper Christmas tour  to the Empress Theatre, Dec. 11 and Dec. 12 with special guests Pear and One More Girl. Tickets are $32 for it.

 Something new happening at the Owl Acoustic lounge is Plugged in Night. Every Sunday, everybody is welcome to bring in their electric instruments and plug in and turn up. Which is unusual for a venue best known for acoustic music.

 Last but not least, the Tongue N’ Groove is set to open. They have their first show scheduled for Dec. 18 with  a revamped Record Holder and Treeline, though there was some talk it might open this week in the old Average Joes building.

And a late announced show, Vancouver alternative rock band Versus The Nothing will be visiting the Slice on Sunday, Dec. 12. They are touring in advance of their upcoming CD Black Gloves EP which is the followup to  their 2008 CD “Let It All Come Down. Their CD resultied in an astonishing amount of commercial placements with Mazda, Tom Green’s 2009 movie Shred or Be Ridden and  SEGA's "Soundtrack for Vancouver 2010" – the Official Video Game of the Olympic Winter Games plus a handful of other.
