Calgary based band Deadhorse brought a bit of the blues to the Slice, Feb. 25.  Jennifer Crighton played some mean harp and sang strong vocals and added ghostly harmonies to Danny Vescarelli’s lead vocals.

The whole band was pretty hot with harmonies, some spaced out jams, a little blues and a lot of country-tinged rock which sounded like a mix of Captain Beefheart and Big Brother and the Holding Company.

They had an excellent crowd cheering them on, but started first, so I missed most of their set, though I caught  much of Toques and Beards’ set which closed off the night.

Toques and Beards added Tyler Bird on drums for with show with Jason Schultchen’s bass, Taylor Ackerman’s guitar and  guitarist Brett Skauge who all traded lead vocal duties  throughout their Sadies styled country/ psychedelic rock music.
