It begins tonight, with three time Juno award winner and renown world musician Alpha Yaya Diallo who plays the Geomattic Attic tonight at 8 p.m.

Diallo was a hit of the South Country Fair last summer. The Guinea, Africa born and raised Diallo , now calls Vancouver home. His most recent CD Immé recently won a Western Canadian Music Award fo best world recording.

He is not only a skilled acoustic and electric guitarist, but also plays a variety of percussion instruments including the  balafon, a traditional wooden xylophone.

Tickets for the show cost $35 for members, $37.50 for non-members and $40 at the door.

Also tonight there are a couple open mics as usual including  James Clare hosting the Cudos open mic and Toques and Beards hosting the Slice’s open jam. Double Jack are at Bo Diddley’s for their open mic as well.

The Lethbridge Folk Club also has an open mic at the Wolf’s Den on Friday, April 22 as well.

Winnipeg based pop/soul/ pop singer-songwriter Matt Epp is coming back to Lethbridge with his new CD and his band, the Amorian Assembly.
He will be playing the Slice, April 20 with Jay Smith who used to play with Matt Mays and El Torpedo

If you missed Roger Marin at the Slice on April 3, make your Good Friday great as he returns April 22 with respected Texas songwriter Mark Jungers.

Marin, who used to tour with Fred Eaglesmith, has not only come into his own as a songwriter, but changes musical directions almost as often as Eaglesmith himself does.
He was in Lethbridge, April 3 to play for all of five people at the Slice with his lead guitarist Mike Tuyp, but will be back  again, this Friday, April 22 with respected Texan songwriter Mark Jungers.
Rob Ursel will be opening the show.

Popular pop singer/ songwriter Rob Szabo also returns to the Slice this week to play April 21.

Also on Thursday, April 21, the open for the bands contest returns to Average Joes. I missed bluesman Curt Young’s winning set this week in the quest for an opening slot for Nazareth, July 21.

The Owl Acoustic Lounge also has a good country show, Wednesday with Vancouver based string-band Johnnie Ninety-Nine as well as Shiloh Lindsey, who are “gettin’ er’ done” on their western Canada tour.
While the Owl is closed for Good Friday, on Saturday, April 23, they welcome local artists who participated in the “Spin” project, where they all designed record jackets. They were previously on display at Blueprint, but will be auctioned off . There will also be live entertainment with Jesse Northey and the Dandelions, Steven Foord,  Gary Bailey and the Barefoot band.

And if you missed Darryl Düus at the Tongue N Groove, April 15, catch him and Papa King playing the Tongue N Groove with the Barrelhouse Boys, April 23 as well. Local musician Leigh Doerksen is raising money to tour this summer and plans to videotape his travels, so he is holding a massive blow out at the Tongue N Groove with some of his friends, April 21 including Brenna Lowrie, Matt Robinson, Steven Foord, Darryl Düus, Papa King, Thomas Fox Mase One, Church and Jesse Northey. Admission is by donation. The show begins at 8:30 p.m..
