There was a good sized crowd for the EP release of Planet Telex’s new download “Wednesday,” Friday, June 8. Lustre Creame lit it up with a tight set of original progressive rock and metal.

 Drummer Chris Lipinski played  with his back turned to the crowd as Aaron Trozzo and Jeffrey Orriss took turns singing and tearing up the fretboard of their guitar and bass respectively.

 Their set included a lot of Tool influenced, riff heavy, ear-blistering rock and some older favourites.

 Orriss played some intricately funky bass lines and Trozzo had plenty of big riffs with the odd solo, especially when he pulled out his gorgeous double neck guitar, playing some big riffs and some very cool solos on the 12 string.

He also complemented Lipinski’s drum solo on  a second drum kit set on stage.
 They ended their set by playing a slower version of the new Planet Telex song “Riot.”

 Planet Telex played a killer set of modern rock , playing a couple songs from the new EP including my new favourite, the countryish “Hold Steady,”  and then my favourite song “Money Tree” from their last CD.

They played  a lot form the previous CD and  one they hadn’t recorded at all before calling it a night with a medley of one of Lustre Creame’s songs which segued into  the “Carry On My Wayward Son,” the ’70s hit from Kansas.
