Vancouver Island bred, Nashville area songwriter Linda McRae returned to Lethbridge to play for an enthusiastic audience of about 15 people at the Slice, Linda McRae sings songs from her new CD. Photo by Richard AmeryJuly 18.

She told a lot of stories about growing up on Vancouver Island near Duncan B.C. then moving to Victoria.

She played several tracks from her new CD “Rough Edges & Ragged Hearts,”  accompanying herself on guitar and banjo and talked about meeting her husband James Whitmire online in Oregon and bonding over the fact that he wrote poems.

They co-wrote several of the songs on her new CD. Whitmire stood up in front of the stage and read one of his poems, “Hope It Lasts Through Supper,”  then she played the version of the poem with music.

She was a captivating performer, playing an array of up tempo folk on guitar and banjo, cracking jokes and telling stories.
