The Murder Mouse Blues Band aren’t strictly a blues band, but they can play to any audience and have during their first Canadian tour.
 It brings them to Lethbridge, Aug. 20 to play the Slice and the Twin Butte General Store, Aug. 14.

“It’s been incredible, we’ve crossed 10 provinces and  600-800 miles,” said frontman Adam Morris from the road between Spruce Grove and Edmonton.

 “We played Kenora (in northwestern Ontario) and it was a big party but lots of the other shows have been more sit down theatres and festivals,” he observed.
“We mix a lot of different genres, blues, Irish, folk music. We can play a range of instruments,” he said.

 Because they can play to any venue and to any crowd, they will wait and see what the audience looks like when they come to Lethbridge.
“It could be a crazy dance party. We’ll just see where we’re at,” he said.

 He is a little bemused by some of the Canadian town names  “What is it? Smashed Face (Head Smashed in Buffalo jump) and Medicine Hat. We don’t really have names like that in Australia,” he said adding they have enjoyed their tour of Canada.

“Banff was really pretty,” he observed.
  The band is from Western Australia, but are playing with Winnipeg drummer Sandesh for this tour.
 He noted they aren’t as popular back home, though audiences in Asian countries like Malaysia and  Thailand have really embraced the band. As well as North American audiences.
“Folk , roots and blues are a little more popular in Canada.

They were even featured in a late 2011 edition of Rolling Stone Magazine.

“That was really great. I’m an author too, so they featured my novel “My Dog Gave me The Clap), then they wrote about the band, which was great,” he enthused adding  writing novels and writing songs are a similar process.

“It’s a little bit of both. This novel is semi-autobiographical about a musician who misses his wife and all he wants to do is go and see her,” he said.
The Murder Mouse Blues band play the Slice, Aug. 20 at 9 p.m. There is a five dollar cover.
