If you are wondering why there seems to be a lot more moustaches this month, it’s because it is Movember, so men everywhere will be growing moustaches to raise awareness about prostate cancer.

One of those is Canadiana cowboy singer Tim Hus, who plays the second annual Sell it Like Selleck silent auction and fundraising celebration, Nov. 15 at the Owl Acoustic Lounge.

“I’ve got my moustache started,” said Hus, suddenly realizing that he will have whole new look for his next album cover, which he recorded with producer Harry Stinson (who has worked with Steve Earle and Lyle Lovett), and will be released early next year.

“I’ve got the photo shoot booked and everything, so I guess it will be a whole new look for me,” said Hus, who hasn’t had personal experience with prostate cancer.

“But almost everyone has personal experience with cancer,” he said adding he is happy to play the fundraiser.
 While his look may have changed, his music hasn’t.

“It’s going to be a boot stomping good time. There will be lots of fiddle tunes and songs we wrote on the road about the characters we have met and stories we have heard. And of course southern Alberta songs about coal miners and rum runners,” Hus continued.
 He is well known for his own special brand of Canadian country music.

“On Saturday, I played the tenth anniversary of my first gig, he observed.

“ I’m definitely proud of that. I’m proud that I’ve been able to build a career playing my own business that has lasted 10 years in a business where it is hard to last 10 minutes. But lots of people are coming to the shows and buying the CDs,” he said.

He has just completed a new CD, which will be released early next year. They recorded half of it in Alberta and half of it  in the United States with producer Harry Stinson.

“He’s kind of a big deal in my business,” he said.
 The new CD will be his third for Stony Plain Records.
 He didn’t want to get stuck in a rut, so he sought out Stinson.
“I recorded it with my touring band and also got some guys who have played with Hank Snow's band and  Bill Monroe’s band and Flatt and Scruggs. So I was pretty excited about that,” Hus enthused.

While he has some high powered talent on the new CD, he noted the music has  remained pretty much the same  style.
“They were all written on touring across the land a meeting all the people and hearing their stories,” he said.
“ I find when I like it then other people will like it too,” he said.

“I think all of the songs sound great,” he said.

“ I have a really good song about  liars — fishermen and politicians who stretch the truth,” he enthused.

 There is no charge for the event at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, however donations will be taken. There will also be a silent auction with fantastic items up for auction and a prizes for best moustache and man of Movember. The event begins at 8 p.m.
