“Lethbridge is a hard place to play when you’re underage so we’ve had to put on our own shows,” said singer/guitarist Jordan Davidson,17, adding they are busy putting together a promotional package for record labels. The band also includes lead guitarist Chase Rennie 16, bassist Devon Sinclair,16, and drummer Sean Thompson,23.
They have been together as a band for nine months, and spent the past two and a half months recording their eight song CD at Amp All Studios. The chose eight of the 18 songs they have written to put on the CD.
“We just recorded eight songs because that was all we could afford. It’s not a Nickelback album as far as sound quality goes, but we think it’s really good. We’re really happy with it,” Davidson continued, citing ’70s classic rock bands like Led Zeppelin, UFO and old Guns n Roses as musical influences.
“We just play rock. ’60s,’70s and 80’s rock with our unique twist,” Rennie added.
The three students met at school and were looking for a drummer.
“We were looking for a drummer and he was looking for a band. So we started jamming and all four of us just connected,” Davidson said.
“As a band we’re taking this a lot more seriously than other bands. Most bands in town play covers. But we really want to expand and tour in Europe and the U.S.” Davidson continued adding they have played with bands like the Golden Mean and at local battles of the bands as well as three times with Incura, another local band who have since moved to a bigger centre like Eyes of Isis want to do some day.
Until they graduate and that happens, Eyes of Isis will do what they can in Lethbridge.
“There really isn’t an all ages scene. We want to try to create a younger rock scene here,” Davidson said.
“But the ultimate goal is to get signed with a major label. So next year we’ll look into management and maybe send our music to television shows like David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel,” Davidson continued.
“If we could make a career out of making music, that would be awesome,” Rennie added, noting the fans are what keeps the Eyes of Isis energized. His favourite track on the CD is “Page of Love.”
“We just want to play our music and hope to God they like it. Each song fits into its own little sub-genre or rock” Davidson added, noting his favourite is “Hot As Hell” because of the story behind it.
Both of them are pumped about the Moose Hall gig. Doors open at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8 p.m..
Eyes of Isis (www.myspace.com/liveeyesofisis ) also have a gig, Nov. 27 at the Gate.
