Participants will learn about the best grant or loan to meet their needs.
Admission is $5 or free for AMIA Members. Applying for grants requires an AMIA membership.
The event takes place in the GCBC Lounge from 7-10 p.m.
Industry Info Sessions are presented by the Alberta Music Industry Association who foster the excellence, diversity and vitality of Alberta artists and those involved in the Alberta music industry. Providing professional development opportunities, educational support, mentoring and training opportunities and advocate the values and interests of Alberta artists in the community.
There are several big concerts this week including Three Days Grace, the Used and Default at the Enmax Centre (see interview in Music Beat) as well as a farewell performance by Canadian folk icons Tanglefoot at the Wolf’s Den (also in Music Beat).
On Saturday it is retro ’80’s night at the Blarney Stone, so dress up as your favourite 80s character and listen to “ with Maesto (Let Your Backbone Slide) Fresh Wes. The event will also be raising money for a couple good causes — the Woods Homes Youth shelter as well as a new University of Lethbridge program called “Uphill Both Ways” which will send help students to Nepal to teach English and build shelters.
Tickets for that show cost $10.
The Blarney Stone will also be bringing in hit makers State of Shock on Nov. 30. They have a several radio friendly rock hits including “Money Honey,” “Too Pretty,” Best I Ever Had” and “Hearts that Bleed.” Doors for that show open at 8 p.m.. Tickets are $20.
Blues fans have a great week ahead of them too. Tonight Guy Davis and Rod Davis wind up a two day run at the Geomatic Attic, plus Paul Kype and Texas Flood are at the Slice, Nov. 28. Treeline is playing the Slice, Nov. 26. Plus Darryl Düus and the One Shoe Blues Band have a two day run at the Lethbridge Casino. If you are heading out to Bow Island, Tim Williams as well as Big Dave McLean and Doc MacLean will be playing blues at the Bow, Nov. 28.
There are lots of open mic this week as well. Planet Telex hosts the open mic at the Slice Tonight. The Tuesday 1010 open mic continues to thrive, plus there is a new open mic at Beaches, every Thursday with Greg Gomola, Matt Grabow and Seth and Guno. And because Tom And Curt have a Friday and Saturday run at the Front Row Pub, they are also hosting an open stage on Friday.
