Pine Tarts have fun with audience

Calgary based garage rock/ punk band the Pine Tarts had a decent crowd out at the Owl Acoustic Lounge, April 20 considering the number of great shows competing with them.

Once they got shrieking microphones and tangled cords sorted out, that didn’t go unnoticed as the self-deprecating lead singer who quipped everybody in the crowd had a mischief charge against them, then joked all of those people were at the Michale Graves show around the corner.

He also tried to get the people up to the front of the stage, joking “You‘re not at Ghostkeeper yet.”

They crashed into an upbeat love song that  sounded like a more rough,  raw and garage rock
influenced Strokes.

The sociable singer joked  “it is good to be back at the Coalbanks,” then bought the five people dancing in front of the stage a round of drinks.

They played an energetic and very tight set of  rock and roll which had elements of rockabilly,  rock and roll and garage rock with subdued keyboards and even threw in an obscure T-Rex cover.
