On Saturday, Aug. 24 Bigwood 6 took place on a farm east of the city.
it is always a really fun get together which allows local musicians to get together and visit where they might not usually be able to because they are usually playing on the same night.

I only caught  a few of the acts.
I arrived in the middle of  Clockwork Towns’ set of Clockwork Towns at Bigwood. Photo by Richard Ameryprogressive, alternative rock.

While I’d just seen them a  couple days before, it is amazing how much more I enjoyed them when they actually have a decent set of lights on them.
They still had their video screen and played original music featuring pre-programmed beats and bass playing behind the duo’s intricate, ambient guitar lines.
Jeremy Floyd Cowpar aka Mr. Personal and rapper Furious D played tweeners in between sets of several bands n the bill.

We don’t get to see alternative rockers the Dirti Speshuls enough, so Bigwood is always a summer highlight because you can always count on them performing at it.

The three guitar arsenal powered band includes several veterans of the Lethbridge music scene including Todd Carter on vocals, the Void’s Jon Vornbrock and Rob Cooper on guitar, the Void’s Drummer Dean Wilson and Jon Brooks adding the third guitar and, of course, Rick Beres on bass, lost in the groove. Together they played a strong set of  high energy ’90s  style power pop of the likes of Sloan, mixed with several heavier, big riff powered numbers.

They are putting the finishing touches on their debut CD. They have a special place in my heart because their numbers used to include  Randy Shaver who passed away this week.
Their new music is very catchy, chock full of lots of guitar and great vocal harmonies.
