The Geomatic Attic got  a taste of mountain music for a sold out show with Virginia’s The Steel Wheels, Oct. 4. They played bluegrass music at its finest— straight out of the world of “O Brother Where Art Thou.”

 The band members clustered around a single microphone and played lightning-fast mandolin, banjo and phenomenal fiddle.
 They started the show off slow then picked up the pace with “Going Down South.”

 Each member took turns  stepping up to the microphone to solo, then stepped back, then came forward to harmonize with the others. Guitarist/ banjo player/ frontman Trent Wagler sang lead on most songs.

 They went political for a moment then were back to the fun stuff.  “Lay Down Low ” was a highlight.

The “Race,” one of the few songs in the first set from their most recent CD, was another highlight.
 They ended their first set with their cover of Tom Waits’ “Walk Away,” which is also a highlight of the new CD.
