Monday night gigs can be tough, so Megan Nash and Mary Caroline’s April 7 show at the Owl Acoustic Lounge was no exception.
I only caught the last couple songs from Yellowknife based singer songwriter Mary Caroline. She had an appealing voice as always as she played songs from her last CD and a few new ones.
She ended with one of my favourites, “Into the Rain.”
Megan Nash, one third of Moose Jaw based indie rock trio PandaCorn, was a real trouper for her solo set as she was playing with a finger she injured in a “mango cutting accident.”
She sounded like Serena Ryder as she sang a few new songs, some PandaCorn songs and “a whole pile of angry songs.”
She played a riveting set which featured her powerfully passionate voice.
“Trust Me” was a highlight, as was her song “about not getting laid.”
A newer song called “My Melancholy Man,” about an ex who was always grouchy, was another highlight.
She finished her set with her “birth control/ viking” song.
She wound down her set with a sultry cover of the Patsy Cline hit “ I Fall To Pieces.”
