Lots of fun this week

There are a couple of really cool shows this week beginning tonight with an open mic at the SlicDave McCanne with Planet Telex.
The Slice is going jazz on Wednesday with the Karl Schwonik Jazz Quartet. The Calgary sextet is in the middle of a tour taking them all over  Alberta, B.C. Then the  East Coast of the United States.
 Local alt-country favourites Dave McCann and the Firehearts have a  Jan. 22 gig at the Slice. Tod Robinson is back in Lethbridge too with a  Saturday night show at the Slice
Also on Jan. 23, Dean Selena (aka the Richard Doerksen Band) officially releases their new CD  ‘What is unchanged’ at the Wooden Kilt.
 At Henotic on Jan. 22, Rum Runner with  Audio Rocketry and Chief Mountain will be performing. The next night features what is sure to be a cool show with the Necessities.
Henotic is holding a fundraiser for Haiti, Jan. 22 featuring Fat Baby Jake, , Jesse and the Dandelions and Broken Host. Admission is five dollars. All money goes to help  the victims of the earthquake in Haiti. Henotic also features a fun Monday night show with Shane Philip, Jan. 25. Also on Monday, Billy the Kid will be bringing her  folk /pop/rock sounds to the Slice, Monday as well.
 But if you want to be a little ‘Crued’  be at the Soundgarden Jan. 21 for a choice Motley Crue tribute.
There are lots of open mics this week.
The Lethbridge Folk Club caps off a busy week of open mics, Friday night at the Wolf’s Den on Friday. Mason Pryde hosts Henotic’s open mic on Wednesday, Jan. 20. As always the 1010 Pub and Beaches have open mics, Mondays and Thursdays respectively.
 Treeline is hosting the Slice’s open mic, Jan. 26.
