Calgary electric blues trio featuring Tony Kaye, drummer Holly Magnus and bassist Viktor Szuroczki entertained an intimate audience with their laid back take on blues classics and originals, Nov. 20 at the Slice.
They began their show with a long instrumental and continued with a laid back version of Cross Roads blues.
They also played a few songs from their CD “Boredom is the Devil’s Tool” beginning with “ Break of Day,” which they followed up with a BB King cover and an excellent cover of John Lee Hooker’s “Dimples“ for which they picked up the tempo. A song, i think was called “Big City” was a highlight as was an extended jam on the set ending “Good to See You Smile.”
Kaye played some tasteful leads on his Stratocaster, while Szuroczki and Magnus were locked into the groove.
